Meisha's Story

Meshia was a self-proclaimed "mess" and assured us the last thing she needed was another baby. Meshia was grieving the sudden loss of her son in a court case and mourning the end of a complicated relationship. She tested positive for pregnancy and was adamant about not bringing a baby into her chaos. We asked about her support circle and where she was spiritual. She confessed that she believed in fortune-telling because a tarot reading told her she would have bad luck. At that moment, we knew how to pray for her.

We let Meshia know that some mystical mishap didn't determine her situation. Her life had a God-given purpose! Sometimes, life (and lies) steers us away from that truth, but it is never too late to discover what God had created us to be! She started crying and felt that it was too good to be true. How could she possibly recover from everything she had gone through? We asked if she wanted us to help her walk through this pregnancy and recovery process because God was in the business of miracles, and her life was ready for miracles! Meshia agreed, and change began to happen immediately.

Through our encouragement, Meshia said yes to God, yes to change, and yes to giving life to her unborn child. We set a time for Meshia to meet with a case manager to see how to recover her oldest son from court custody, organize her finances, and take recovery classes to be the best mother for her new baby. Seeing someone craving recovery as much as Meshia humbled and encouraged us. She attended every appointment, followed the court's instructions, and worked hard to let God's purpose redefine her. She didn't give up, and neither did we!

She stopped by the pregnancy center, and she was unrecognizable to us. She wanted to let us know that she had gone to court, and the court had noticed her change for the better and given her a second chance. She was unrecognizable! No longer was she surrounded by chaos, mysticism, and uncertainty; she was motivated by faith in a God who gave her life a new meaning.

Today, we got a call and the fantastic news that Meshia welcomed BOTH her sons home. Praise God!
